Cusco Essentials 5 Days – Train & Icons

5 days

Cusco's essential icons in five well-sequenced days, from Inca heritage to Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain.

We built this 5 days itinerary for first-time visitors to Cusco who want the essential icons in one simple booking without committing to a multi-day trek.. The sequence combines the underlying PERU IS EPIC products into one coordinated journey while preserving the operational rules, permits, tickets and inclusions of each component.

Important: Cusco accommodation is not automatically included on nights that are not already part of an underlying multi-day trek or Machu Picchu product. Review the inclusions carefully and add hotel or airport services separately if you want us to coordinate the complete stay.

  • Cusco City Tour as a gentle introduction to the region
  • Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu combined in one coordinated 2-day journey
  • Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley after several days of acclimatization
  • One booking instead of coordinating multiple operators and schedules
  • Optional airport transfers and train upgrades available

We start gently in Cusco with our City Tour, introducing the historic center and nearby Inca sites while giving you time to adjust to the altitude before the higher-elevation days ahead.

We travel through the Sacred Valley as part of our two-day Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu experience, visiting key Inca landscapes and continuing by train toward Aguas Calientes for the night.

We visit Machu Picchu with the entrance route confirmed for your booking, explore the citadel with our guide, then return by train and coordinated ground transportation.

After your cultural days, we head into the high Andes for Rainbow Mountain and the Red Valley hike. This is the most physically demanding day of the package and is intentionally scheduled after acclimatization.

Keep the final day flexible for a relaxed morning, shopping, cafés or onward travel. Airport transportation can be added separately if you want us to coordinate your departure.

Everything You Need to Know

You can book directly through our website by selecting your tour, date, and group size, then completing payment online. Once payment is processed and availability is verified, we send your booking confirmation with the details you need for your trip. If you would prefer help planning your itinerary, you can also reach out to us directly before booking.
Our higher-altitude tours, such as Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain, include a first-aid kit and emergency support, and our guides are attentive to how the group is coping with the conditions. If you have a pre-existing health condition or are concerned about the effects of altitude, we recommend consulting your doctor before booking a high-altitude experience.
Some of our services depend on limited or externally controlled inventory, such as Machu Picchu entrance tickets and Inca Trail permits, so a date can occasionally be unavailable. If that happens, we let you know as soon as we verify availability and help you find the closest alternative date or itinerary that works for your trip.
