Sacred Valley Classic Tour: Pisac & Ollantaytambo

Full day

Explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas on a full-day journey from Cusco through Pisac, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. We recommend this experience for travelers who want a clear introduction to Inca history, living Andean culture and the agricultural landscapes that made the valley so important. The day combines guided archaeological visits, short market and cultural stops, a buffet lunch and scenic road travel. Walking is manageable, although stone steps and altitude require a steady pace and comfortable footwear.

We pick you up from eligible Cusco hotels at approximately 7:30–8:00 AM and travel north toward the Sacred Valley. As the road climbs out of the city, the landscape opens into high plateaus and then descends toward the Urubamba valley. When timing allows, we stop at a viewpoint where our guide introduces the valley’s geography and agricultural importance.

We continue to the archaeological complex above Pisac. The site spreads across a mountain slope and contains terraces, ceremonial areas, residential sectors and viewpoints. Our guide selects the most suitable route for the group and explains how the Incas adapted construction and farming to steep terrain. Expect uneven stone paths and some steps.

After the archaeological visit, we descend to the modern town for a shorter stop at the artisan market. You can browse textiles, ceramics, silverwork and local products. Shopping is optional; we confirm a clear meeting time so the tour remains on schedule.

We follow the Urubamba River to the lunch area for an included buffet. The break offers time to rest and choose from Peruvian and international dishes. Drinks may be charged separately.

In the afternoon, we visit Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town with original streets and water channels. The archaeological complex rises above the settlement in a sequence of broad terraces. We climb at a measured pace while the guide explains the site’s temple structures, strategic location and role during the early Spanish invasion. The steps are manageable for most travelers but can feel more demanding at altitude.

Our final stop is Chinchero, known for its highland setting, Inca terraces and weaving traditions. Depending on the confirmed operation, the visit may focus on the archaeological area, the colonial church surroundings or a textile demonstration. We then return to Cusco, normally arriving between approximately 5:30 and 6:30 PM.

Everything You Need to Know

You can book directly through our website by selecting your tour, date, and group size, then completing payment online. Once payment is processed and availability is verified, we send your booking confirmation with the details you need for your trip. If you would prefer help planning your itinerary, you can also reach out to us directly before booking.
Our higher-altitude tours, such as Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain, include a first-aid kit and emergency support, and our guides are attentive to how the group is coping with the conditions. If you have a pre-existing health condition or are concerned about the effects of altitude, we recommend consulting your doctor before booking a high-altitude experience.
Some of our services depend on limited or externally controlled inventory, such as Machu Picchu entrance tickets and Inca Trail permits, so a date can occasionally be unavailable. If that happens, we let you know as soon as we verify availability and help you find the closest alternative date or itinerary that works for your trip.
