We collect you from eligible Cusco hotels at approximately 7:30–8:00 AM and travel north toward the Sacred Valley. The road rises above Cusco before opening onto wide views of the valley, agricultural terraces and traditional communities. When conditions and timing allow, we pause at a viewpoint so our guide can introduce the geography and explain why this fertile corridor became central to Inca settlement and food production.

We continue to Pisac, where the archaeological complex extends across a steep mountainside. During the guided walk, we explore the terraces, stone structures and viewpoints accessible on the day. The site helps explain how the Incas combined agriculture, defense, ritual space and settlement planning within one dramatic landscape. After descending to the modern town, we visit the artisan market. This is a shorter cultural stop where you can browse textiles, ceramics and locally made products. Purchases are optional, and our guide confirms the meeting time before the group continues.

We drive along the Urubamba River to the lunch area. An included buffet gives you time to rest and choose from several Peruvian and international dishes. Drinks may be charged separately. The break also provides an opportunity to reorganize your overnight bag before the afternoon visit and train connection.

In the afternoon, we explore Ollantaytambo, one of the Sacred Valley’s most important Inca sites and a living town that still preserves original street alignments and water channels. The archaeological visit includes a gradual climb over stone terraces. From the upper areas, you can appreciate the valley, the settlement below and the scale of the unfinished temple structures. Our guide explains Ollantaytambo’s religious, agricultural and strategic roles, as well as its importance during the early Spanish invasion. Walking is not technically difficult, but the steps can feel demanding at altitude, so we maintain a measured pace.

After the visit, we proceed to the station and board the confirmed Expedition-category train. The route follows the Urubamba River for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. On arrival in Machu Picchu Pueblo, our representative accompanies you to the hotel. Dinner is not included, and the guide confirms the next morning’s meeting and shuttle time.

After hotel breakfast, we walk to the shuttle-bus area. The bus ride to the sanctuary takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes along a winding mountain road. Please carry the original passport used for the reservation and use the public restrooms before entering.

We enter according to the official time and circuit on your ticket. The guided visit normally lasts two to three hours. As we move through the terraces, ceremonial spaces, residential areas, fountains and finely fitted stonework available on the route, our guide connects what you saw in the Sacred Valley with the engineering and landscape planning of Machu Picchu. The assigned circuit controls which viewpoints and sectors may be visited. We explain it before travel, including whether your ticket includes the classic elevated panorama or a lower archaeological route.

After leaving the sanctuary, we descend to Machu Picchu Pueblo. Depending on the train time, you can purchase lunch before collecting your bag and returning to the station. We travel by train to Ollantaytambo, reconnect with our road transportation and continue to Cusco, normally arriving between 8:00 and 10:00 PM.

Everything You Need to Know

You can book directly through our website by selecting your tour, date, and group size, then completing payment online. Once payment is processed and availability is verified, we send your booking confirmation with the details you need for your trip. Our higher-altitude tours, such as Humantay Lake and Rainbow Mountain, include a first-aid kit and emergency support, and our guides are attentive to how the group is coping with the conditions. If you have a pre-existing health condition or are concerned about the effects of altitude, we recommend consulting your doctor before booking a high-altitude experience.
Some of our services depend on limited or externally controlled inventory, such as Machu Picchu entrance tickets and Inca Trail permits, so a date can occasionally be unavailable. If that happens, we let you know as soon as we verify availability and help you find the closest alternative date or itinerary that works for your trip.
